God, Family, and Country: Honoring Charlie Kirk

September 19th, 2025

My heart is heavy; I am mourning the loss of someone I never met in person, yet someone I feel deeply connected to through our shared faith. Charlie Kirk was more than just a public figure—he was a brother in Christ, a husband, a father, and a courageous leader who stood firmly for his convictions.

A Life of Courage and Conviction

In this season, I cannot help but reflect on the life of Charlie Kirk. He was fearless. He was an amazing father and husband. He was a good man whose life was taken too soon.

Charlie Kirk’s story is one of boldness and determination. At just 18 years old, he founded a conservative organization that would go on to influence and inspire countless young people across the nation. Without the traditional path of an elite university education, he became a debating autodidact—self-taught, quick-witted, and unafraid to engage with those who opposed him.

He married a lovely Christian woman to whom he dedicated his life, and together they built a family grounded in faith. As a father of two small children, he carried not only the responsibilities of leadership but also the sacred call of fatherhood and discipleship within his home.

After his passing, Vice President JD Vance—while hosting The Charlie Kirk Show—spoke to the depth of Charlie’s character. Quoting Charlie’s wife, Erika, he shared a simple yet profound truth: Charlie never once raised his voice to her. What a beautiful testimony of the man he was—steadfast in conviction, yet tender in love.

His example reminds us that courage, faith, and conviction matter—that standing boldly for what you believe in can change the world, even when it comes at great cost.

The Pain of Mourning a Stranger

I mourn deeply for his wife and children—the innocent victims of some lost soul’s evil scheme to end the life of their leader and head of their family. It is unfair and awful beyond words.

Some may wonder how it’s possible to grieve for someone you didn’t personally know. But as the Bible reminds us, we are all one body in Christ. “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it” (1 Corinthians 12:26). This is why my heart aches. Though he was a stranger to me, Charlie was my brother in the faith. His absence leaves a void that I feel personally, because the bonds of faith are eternal and profound.

A Personal Journey of Faith and Politics

For the first five years of my twenties, I embraced a very liberal mindset. At the time, I thought I was sure of what I believed, but in reality, I was lost. Over time, through prayer, reflection, and the voices of leaders like Charlie Kirk, I began to see things differently. Today, I am grateful to stand firmly on the side of life, faith, and conservative values—values that honor the sanctity of every life, strengthen the family, and protect the freedoms that allow us to live out our convictions.

Gratitude and Hope

Charlie left us with so much—countless hours of work, reflections, and material to review and study. A tapestry of informal debates, lectures from a christian professor who never billed us, pouring his knowledge into college students and young people with the hope of making the world a better place. He is a true champion to the young people of this country.

While I mourn Charlie Kirk’s passing, I also give thanks for his life. His courage, his faith, and his willingness to speak truth even when it was unpopular inspire me to live bolder in my own calling. Though my heart is broken, I am reminded that our hope is not in men, but in Christ, who conquers death and unites us eternally.

Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk. Thank you for your faithfulness.
