Hello, I'm Maria!

I am a proud native of the Land of Enchantment, where my culture and heritage have shaped my passion for working with both people and animals. These roots continue to inspire my commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others.

I hold an Associate of Arts degree from New Mexico State University–Dona Ana, along with certifications in Digital Video and Creative Media Technology. Currently, I am pursuing a B.S. in Human Development and Family Science with a minor in Counseling and Educational Psychology through New Mexico State University–Global Campus. As a CFLE candidate, I am deeply passionate about family wellness, mental health, and equine-assisted therapy.

Looking ahead, I plan to further my education at Liberty University Online. My ultimate goal is to establish a ranch-based therapeutic and educational practice—one grounded in faith, family values, and animal-assisted interventions.

My Story

Growing up, I was surrounded by the vibrant colors, music, and traditions of my culture. Some of my fondest memories come from my time in mariachi, where I sang and played the violin as a section leader. I also had the privilege of performing ballet folklorico, a traditional Mexican folk dance. Twirling in beautifully embroidered skirts and singing while proudly wearing a traje de charro and sombrero, I felt the weight of history and the stories these garments held. These experiences deeply connected me to my heritage and instilled in me a sense of discipline, teamwork, and pride in who I am.

As I’ve grown, my passions have expanded beyond music and dance to include working with people and animals, finding fulfillment in making meaningful connections. My journey has led me to pursue higher education, all while dreaming of one day managing my own cattle farm and ranch—a space where I can nurture both my love for animals and my commitment to creating a positive impact.

Life has taught me that honoring where you come from can inspire where you’re going. My story is one of faith, family, and a deep respect for the traditions that have made me who I am. I carry these values with me as I work toward building a life full of purpose, joy, and love.
